I recently answered a great question from an SLP-A and it got me thinking about some of the resources that really make dealing with problem behaviors easier. One of those resources is Carol Gray’s The New Social Story Book.
One of the great things about this book is in addition to providing instruction on how to write your own social stories, it comes with a CD of 100 pre-written social stories that are customizable. If you are currently struggling with a problem behavior or behaviors and you feel stumped try this resource out. Problem behaviors don’t have to be permanent. When people ask why I’m successful with a particular child where others weren’t; my response is that I’m generally willing to fail longer than others. It’s okay to fail. Failure is only a bad thing if you accept it and try nothing new!
